* The 4.7-inch iPhone 8, and 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus smartphones cost $699 and $799 respectively for the 64GB versions.
* Both devices come with the new iOS 11 software.
* The pair will go on sale from September 22.
Apple has today unveiled its much-anticipated iPhone 8 and a special 10th anniversary edition iPhone X.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus represent a like-for-like upgrade to Apple’s current offerings – The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The pair which will come with 4.7 inch and 5.5 inches retina HD displays respectively will also feature front and back glass panels, built-in wireless charging, and in Apple’s words: “the most powerful and smartest chip ever” in a smartphone.

Both devices will be available for sale from September 22 at a starting price of $699 (N256,000) for the 64GB iPhone 8 and $799 (N293,000) for the iPhone 8 Plus with the same storage size. They will also come with the iOS 11 software which will be available for download from September 19.
The new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus features a new glass and aluminium design, made out of the “most durable glass” ever in a smartphone. Apple said the glass finish is made out of a seven-layer colour process for precise hue and opacity. Both devices are built to be water and dust resistant.
The phones come with retina HD displays with an added True Tone feature that adjusts the white balance of the display to match the surrounding lighting for a more “natural, paper-like” viewing experience. The company also boasts of offering a display with the best colour accuracy in the industry through its new iPhones.
The camera on iPhone 8 Plus are custom-tuned for an enhanced Augmented Reality experience. The iPhone 8 comes with a much –approved 12MP camera – with a larger and faster sensor than its predecessors.
The new camera delivers better video stabilisation, 4K video up to 60 frame per seconds (fps) and 1080p slow-motion video up to 240fps. On the iPhone 8 Plus, you will get a dual 12MP camera. There is also a special Portrait mode with Portrait lighting on the iPhone 8 Plus which brings with it a “dramatic studio lighting” effect.
In addition, both phones come with redesigned stereo speakers which are 25 percent louder and deliver deeper bass for richer sounding music videos and speakerphone calls.
Apple’s Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing said at the launch event: “the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are new generation of iPhones that improve on everything we love about the iPhone.”
